On Substack I write personal essays and fiction that are often about the body (these days aging body) and its relationship to the natural world.

Perhaps that’s a character who’s transforming into her alligator self or me hiking the rim of the Grand Canyon in my wheelchair—which keeps stalling on precipices probably from the cold but maybe from being left out on the tarmac in pouring rain beside the plane on the way across the country.

So, for my experiences of disability and aging, travel essays, the sometimes slapstick humor of using a wheelchair, writings about writing, and an exploration of the necessary strategies needed to build community in this time of attacks on bodily autonomy—SUBSCRIBE

A free subscription will allow you to read all the past and future essays, receive updates on any writing news, and have access to the first three chapters of The Sacrifice Zone: An Environmental Thriller which is serialized on Substack.

A paid subscription will give you access the rest of the novel (text and audio).

A paid subscription is also a way to be an advocate of my writings. It is so appreciated.

Sincerely, Sandra
